MUSKOKA — 2018 could be a milestone year for a Muskoka entrepreneur.

“The program is a contest to find the Muskoka-based entrepreneur with the best idea and plan for a successful business,” explained Rick Dalmazzi, chair of the Muskoka Founders Circle, an organization with plans to give away $10,000 to one successful applicant next year.

“We’re looking for an individual with a really good idea who needs working capital.”

The Founders Circle was initiated late last year by Gravenhurst-based not-for-profit The Network, which hosted an information night in October to attract members willing to put up $1,000 each toward the $10,000 grant.

The successful plea resulted in 20 members joining in on the project, which Dalmazzi says is still in the planning stage.

“It’s a pilot year,” he said. “We’re going to try some things and keep it fairly simple and see how it goes.”
